One of the gifts I received from my girlfriend, Shumyla, for Christmas 08 was Sasha's best set ever created. When I listened to the journey during the holiday trip back to Memphis with Shumyla, we were both completely astounded at how perfect Sasha delivered his creation he called Invol2ver! I remember during "Midnight" - having the goosebumps from the chord progression and turning to Shu - and she said, "You need to play this tonight!" My reply: "Well, before hearing the CD I was already considering, but now I realize that it's a necessity!" I was most impressed with his very gradual build to a finale that resonates the soul and has you singing the song hours after hearing the CD. I have listened to Invol2ver over 20 times by now, and I cannot get enough the set! My gift to the HHDG audience was to share my gift, and let everybody who tuned into WEVL for the first half of the show get the same feeling Shu and I did just hours before arriving back in Memphis . . .

A Holiday Guest Appearance on The HHDG:
Before Rick Phifer played his Christmas set, we had a discussion about the Memphis dance scene in the early 1990s with Graflin and Sean OD, the differences between the scene then and now, and the reunion of these 3 Memphis DJs at a Christmas party.
Rick Phifer's Christmas set included anthems like "Pjanoo" by Pryda and "Hustler" by Simian Mobile Disco. Most of what Rick plays though, are house remixes of either classics or current hits on the pop chart. This mix was no exception! A definite club energy portrayed in Rick's set shows that he is no stranger to the club vibe and keeping the crowd on their feet. Thank you, Rick, for taking the time out of your busy night to share the music with the audience and chat with me.
Last 3 cuts of 2008 on the HHDG:
