9:30PM: Debut Guest Appearance of DJ Mongoose, Mixing Live at WEVL
Mongoose plays minimal, house & tech. He brought a tasty collection of his music for the HHDG, and served it up with an appetizing arrangement on the air. Although it was his first time spinning on the air, it was obvious that he had years of experience: 6 to be exact. It was a pleasure to have Mongoose in the studio, sharing his passion, feeding us the juicy tunes, leaving the hungry listener with an insatiable desire for more . . .

10:45PM:
After Mongoose's live sets, it was the return of another Memphis DJ (who made it on the Best of 2008 DJ REwind sets last month): DJ Growltiger from Memphis created a new Winter 2008 Mix.
My take on the new mix:
This set has a nice intro: I love how Rob Acid's remix of Spaceman bleeds perfectly into LED! Y68 immediately brings me into "epic-land," but I'm only there for a moment. One thing I have noticed with DJ Growltiger’s mixes is that the progression of one track to another is quick, seamless, and always gripping. You never know what you’re going to get next, which makes it so fun. Reynosa has a trouse* sound, which makes a perfect bridge into Dreamcatcher because it energizes the journey into the next level. Dreamcatcher is irresistible—the melodic hook on the front end morphs into a lush, driving club anthem! At this point, I am definitely hooked. Jupiter is Calling and I cannot resist. I enter prog-house territory and the aural sound scape is spectacular! Growltiger certainly has an ear for harmonic keying and I notice he could not have found a better follow-up for Dreamcatcher. Two-thirds through the mix and the journey flows with driving fluidity! Getting very Guitarra now: feeling like a tropical paradise (Mmm, mmmm - tasty cut!) F12 & Bambou simmer the mix with confidence and patience, just anticipating the closer: Alone With You. Wow, what a mix! I am impressed.
