Autumn Pledge Drive

Thank you for your pledges tonight, everybody. First, I need to thank Melanie's pledge because she initially made a request for Deadmau5. I simply asked one of my frequent callers if she was willing to honor a pledge in the near future to help us stay on the air. Melanie was excited to help out WEVL & became part of our family. She realized how important it was to her that WEVL stays in her life. Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world where a volunteer radio station runs on pure passion for the music. MLG&W does not care that we are the best radio station on the FM dial. MLG&W needs us to pay the bills just like any other business, or resident. Understanding this, Melanie pulled through with a $40 membership pledge. However, WEVL remained at $4 shy of $20.6K for 90 minutes . . .
I enjoyed the 5-hour marathon of bringing you "The Most Requested Tracks on the HHDG." I promised in the last half-hour of my normal 3-hour slot that I would play for an extra 30 minutes: if someone would make a pledge of $40, or more. Jim Nettleton called during "Words (For Love)" & decided to pledge $65 to get the 2009 WEVL shirt! It was on then...I went from 30, to 60, to 90 & finally, 120 extra minutes of most requested cuts! I loved the show tonight so much because of the response from the audience [our sponsor] that I figured they deserve some extra music on WEVL's airwaves, or online at wevl.org.
