October 4

As for Plan B (the theme for this edition of the HHDG), I played the first three tracks off GU013: Sasha in Ibiza - CD02:
01 BT - Fibonacci Sequence (10:23)
02 Paganini Traxx - Zoe (Timo Maas Mix) (6:20)
03 Cass & Slide - Perception (9:25)

9:30PM: Swayzak - Smile & Receive (Apparat Remix); For Haven & Angel

After the request, I debuted a Memphis talent, Brad G, on WEVL. A perfect way to do this was to play his live set from one of the LFO Benefit hOOkUp parties this past summer. Brad's DJ set at The Full Moon Club took place on August 16. I missed his set that night, and hearing the recording lets me know that I do not want to miss another live set by this DJ. The music he spins is progressive music at its best: moving melodic lines on top of lush layers of harmonic pads with driving beats and plenty of vivacious vocals sprinkled around throughout the harmonically mixed journey!

hOOkUp P/Brad G:
01 Deadmau5 - Tiny Dancer
02 Oliver Smith - Groove Nova (tech rmx)
03 Orjan Nilsen - La Guitarra
04 Blizzard - For You (rmx)
05 San - Nothing Remains (instrumental mix)
06 Nitrous Oxide - Feel (rmx)
07 Tom Colontonio - Modern Day
08 Artento Divini - Reflex
09 Marcos Schossow F/Blackfeel Wite - Anny (rmx)
10 Joey V - Syncronocity (rmx)

10:45PM: When Brad's jaw-dropping set ended, I thought it would be appropriate to play the rest of GU013CD02. I mean, it would be wrong not to share the entire CD with you when it is such a perfect set.
Sasha in Ibiza:
04 POB P/Patrick Reid - The Fly (5:33)
05 Sasha - Xpander (9:36)
06 Bluefish - One (6:41)
07 BT F/Jan Johnston - Mercury & Solace (7:28)
08 Aquilla - Dreamstate (LSG Mix) (4:32)
09 Junkie XL - Future In Computer Hell (Part 2) (6:34)
10 Bedrock - Heaven Scent (7:20)

11:30PM: I needed to play a couple of requests . . .
01 Dirty Vegas - Days Go By; For Duke
02 Above & Beyond - Alone Tonight; For Shumyla
03 Dave Ralph - Giggledropz (Pilgrim's Progress Rmx)
04 Tigerskin - The Holy Grail

This edition of the HHDG was dedicated to everybody involved with the renovation the air room at WEVL: Judy (WEVL manager), Brian (program manager), Don, J.B. and John (WEVL's volunteer engineer). Interior Focus, Inc. donated the new carpet for the air room, as well.
John deserves supreme thanks for the fine effort he put into the air room project. He was really pumped up about the whole thing. Judy got there at 5:45AM Saturday and he was already there and couldn't wait to get inside. He went right to work and did not waste one second or stop for 12-1/2 hours. (Well, he did eat part of a burger and a few fries, but he worked while he ate.)
He also told Judy that he's spent over $600 of his own money on the project. The hours he spent planning, consulting, plus the 12+ hours on Saturday would have cost us thousands of dollars, if we had to pay another engineer.
John typed to Judy in an e-mail the night before: "I can't tell you how proud and excited I am to be doing this project. I find WEVL to be a wonderful community of people truly dedicated to radio for the people by the people, and one of the few remaining radio stations on the air that makes a difference to the listeners. This is a crazy business in the best of times, and for you guys to have kept this thing alive for all these years on contributions of small capital and varied talent is a testament to how good you are."

I, personally, am so grateful for my experience here at WEVL. I am part of an amazing organization with people who are so appreciative, passionate and loyal to the station. John is another reminder of how special WEVL really is to Memphis. I am so proud to be a DJ for WEVL!
