Singularity is a DJ. Yes. . .true, but to leave it like that would be like saying Paris is the capitol of France. There is a lot more to Paris than it being just the capitol. Agreed? I thought so. Singularity is that good as he proved again this night.

Since I have met Chris Harrington at a Holiday Party in Midtown Memphis in December 2006, I have learned a lot of things about DJing than meets the eye. His careful track selections are exactly that. His sound is definitely on the progressive tip - usually house and breaks. The tracks he puts in his collection are usually keyed before even making the purchase. Singularity takes the time to figure all this out on his synthesizer to fill up the key categories that are low. He has hundreds of tracks to choose from now which he will be sharing once again on the HHDG. He has also learned on Traktor Pro (a recent upgrade he made to expand his horizons) how transposing the key on a particular track can help ease the pressure of harmonic mixing. Singularity now has the ability to select the perfect follow up without compromising the harmonic transition.

Singularity puts together his progressive sets with the aid of his Numark midi-controller. His wizardry skills and progressive music put us in an uplifting mood as he carried us through the HHDG. I hope you did not miss this evening's special show from a Memphis DJ legend in the making.

10PM: Introduction to Singularity
Singularity gave us a concise history of his background and why he started DJing. Then, he introduced one of his all-time favorite songs and explained that Black Cherry was so beautiful that it reminded him of a summer day lying in a hammock looking up at the trees blue sky with a few stray white clouds...
01 Goldfrapp - Black Cherry
We took a short break here to introduce the next song. Mad World has a special place in Singularity's heart because it takes him back to those times when his life has been in those low valleys. It gives the man a sense of true current perspective and realization that those hard times are temporary, but real and necessary to help him be satisfied with his life as it is now. "Without the bitter, the Sweet ain't as sweet!" - Jason Lee's line in Vanilla Sky
02 Gary Jules - Mad World (Stefan's Journey Into Madness Mix)
03 Hybrid - Dogstar F/Perry Farrell

10:30PM Interview with a Magician
Singularity first explained how powerful Dogatar is to him because the song is about strength, endurance and determination. You need to know you are going to make it through the difficult times and turn out with a victory in the end. Then, we talked about harmonic mixing and why it is necessary for him to key his tracks. Singularity explained how it began for him: the mix of Moody by BPT and Slap It (Zion) by Fluke. When he mixed these records together it seemed so magical compared to other mixes he did. The reason for this was not initially evident, but after researching the harmonics of music, he discovered that there is math involved in music. Being the math and science buff that he is, he was content in the newfound knowledge that there is a foolproof formula to making himself seem like a magician when he was mixing. The next DJ set gave you an idea of we are talking about....
01 Adam Parker - Highlife (Sasha Invol2ver Remix)
02 Kostas Skretas - Tears On The Leaf (Ben Coda Remix)
03 Musetta - Red Star

11PM: "Taking it to the Next Level"
The topics during this interview were about Singularity's recent upgrades in DJ equipment. He now uses Traktor Pro on his Mac with a Numark midicontroller. He talked about some of the added features, such as key-locked/unlocked pitch control on Traktor Pro. As overwhelming as the new features are to Singularity, he is tackling each one at time and utilizing it in his DJ mixing more and more. Also, the Numark midicontroller is a wise investment, especially since it is sturdier and a lot more durable than his previous controller. Singularity kicked it up a few energy notches for the following set:
01 Royal Kinks - Lift Me (Original Vocal Mix)
02 Faraz - Kite Runner
03 Supermodels From Paris - Keep On
04 RZ Suhaib - Delirious Moments (David DiSante Edit)
05 Stan Kolev - Closer

11:30 "Shadowplay: The Next Generation"
Before the final set of the evening, Singularity talked about another gig he will spinning at in the near future. Since G9 Collective (his promotion team) has not locked down a venue quite yet, the date will be announced soon on the HHDG. After hearing these sets by Singularity, it is safe to say that it will be worth the wait...
01 Electrobiosis - Acid Rain
02 Jaytech - Spacelift
03 David West - Morphology (Charles Gudagafva Remix)
04 Michael Cassette - Magenta Sunset
05 Bjorn Mandry & Thomas Gold - Suppress You (Duca Remix)

Final Shoutouts & thanks
